Freelance Mezzo-soprano and
Teacher of Singing
Katie was born in Bath and studied as a Junior pupil at the Royal
Welsh College of Music whilst still at school. During her time
there, Katie was given a place in the Royal Welsh College Chamber
Choir and recorded performances with the BBC National Chorus of
Wales under conductor, the late Richard Hickox, and appeared on BBC2
for an Easter showing of ‘L’Enfance du Christ’ by Hector Berlioz.
After deciding to continue her studies in
London, Katie studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama
studying under Susan Waters, where she received her BMus performance
degree. Highlights include performing as part of the chorus in
Stravinsky’s opera ‘The Rake’s Progress’ for the Aldeburgh Festival
2006, conducted by Martyn Brabbins.
Katie is based in West Sussex and enjoys
combining a busy teaching career with freelance solo and ensemble
work around the UK. She is Assistant Director of Music at Windlesham
House School, one of the UK’s leading independent schools.
She continues to study singing with soprano Yvonne Patrick.
